Why Bio-Plastic

In the recent years plastic waste has became crucial problem all over the world. Plastic is day to day and irreplaceable product. As it is cheaper than other materials, plastic use has increased exponentially. It has solved many problems due to its low weight, easy process, availability etc. But, due to its end life of 1000 years, the problem of decomposition has increased. Since last 50 years 6 billion tones of plastic is manufactured and consumed, out which 10% is recycled and 15% is incremented, remaining are is either a part of waste in ocean, landfills or is being dumped somewhere. It has been estimated by 2050, there would be more plastic in ocean than fish.

Looking towards this scenario, many research is going on the have the substitute of plastic and a biodegradable plastic has been invented which is also termed as Bio-Plastic. This kind of plastic is best to use for the one-time use plastic products. Bio-Plastic are made renewable resources such as corn starch, cassava starch, etc. Bio-plastic is 100% biodegradable is presence of water, air and CO2 in 180 days. Being a product of starch content, this is food grade in nature.
